The Three Springs Horse Ranch is a full-care pasture boarding facility with 24-hour on-site professionals. The Ranch sits nestled in the rolling landscape of the Texas Hill Country amid old traditional ranches and a growing number of vineyards. The terrain is tree-covered, as varied as the vegetation and the horses love it here.
Given a choice, horses would rather be in the pasture full-time than in a stable. Never bored, they can live as nature intended. Over the years, when farriers and veterinarians have visited the ranch they often remark that our own horses are in excellent condition and they attribute much of that to the fact the horses have plenty of room to “be horses.”
The Ranch now offers the same environment to a limited number of horse owners. As horse owners themselves, the owners have both training and years of experience in caring for horses of all ages. However, the Ranch is anything but a conventional “pasture boarding” operation. Think of this place as a stable facility with loafing sheds instead of stalls.

The Ranch also offers a variety of basic courses for enthusiasts (or parents of enthusiasts) on topics like basic horse care, riding safety, trail riding first aid, and gear inspection and maintenance. Several riding clinics are offered during the year so even if you don’t board here, please join the people of the ranch in the fun, just like at the DNR Ranch in Wyoming!
The Three Springs Horse Ranch is not for everyone but if you would like to try something new for your trail or endurance horse, or just retire an old friend, the facility and care may be just what you are looking for. Give them a call or contact them through this site to make an appointment to see their operation. The coffee is always fresh and hot!
The motto at Three Springs Horse Ranch is “HAPPY HORSES MAKE GOOD COMPANIONS.” The owners believe that natural horsemanship requires a natural environment for horses to be mentally and physically healthy. Check out also: Clover Creek Ranch And Guest House in Tennessee.
Horses are herd animals, evolved to walk, run, play, and graze. For this reason, we offer only pasture boarding where horses are never confined and can constantly be in motion conditioning their bodies and making the most of the natural environment around them.
In this type of setting horses will learn from one another to adapt to weather changes, wild animals, and natural events. The sight of a running deer, a startled flock of birds, and jackrabbits feeding in the moonlight are not scary to the horse who shares his pasture with these critters every day. Pasture horses become more confident mounts.
Each pasture is specially selected in size and carrying capacity with ample native grasses for grazing as well as persimmons, mustang grapes, acorns and flowers for forage during most of the year and if you are into Buffalo hunting check out this post.
In keeping with the philosophy that a natural environment is best for the horse, the Ranch follows the adage of “forage first.” However, to keep undue pressure off the land, they also provide a twice-daily ration of coastal hay as well as salt and mineral supplements.
During the winter, they also add balanced feeds to the mix to ensure each horse in their charge is as well taken care of as their own horses. Each new horse is carefully evaluated for Body Composition upon arrival. Custom feeding schedules are available if needed.
There is always a constant supply of fresh water available for the horses. Each pasture has two tanks holding 300 gallons of water for up to 6 horses. All tanks are checked twice daily and we visually inspect each horse daily.
Finally, the Three Springs Horse Ranch encourages horse owners to exercise and ride their horses often. In the meantime, they work to fill the space between those visits with care and attention to your horse. At the Ranch, we are not just another horse business; we are horse owners and enthusiasts. Come visit us and see for yourself why happy horses make good companions!
